Neighbors

Ah, neighbors. Where do I start? I know, last year when we had a "litter" of fox kits in the backyard living under the shed. (six babies romping around the yard - such fun) The neighbor freaked out thinking that the kits were going to take the little children and run off with them. (ok, she really didn't say that but she did say "the carnival is in town, I'm calling animal control") Fortunately we were able to have our fox kits all summer and in to the fall. This year we're experiencing what I'm calling encroaching on my space. Ok, now I have an acre of land with not just one "flower bed" (I'll use that term loosely at this point) but I have seven of them. It's a lot of work. Really too much. So, the neighbor pulls out some weeds on his side of the yard, but from my garden and takes them to the burn pile (yes we can burn here) and then starts the burn pile on his own. (please note, we had not started the burn pile because every time we were going to start the burn pile it would rain) So, he starts the burn pile and all we got was smoke in the neighborhood, duh - because it had rained and because the stuff burned was green. Again, duh. Now, on Sunday mornings they start cutting their grass at about 8:30 in the morning. Doesn't anyone think people may want to sleep in a bit? And, the topping on the cake, cutting down a tree on fourth of July morning - early!!!! I wish I could keep the yard as nice as the neighbors would all like it to be, and I've given up on trying. It's a never ending job. If I win a lottery, I'm hiring a landscaper!!!
On one other note, we were watching something last night on tv and I looked over and the cats were playing with this toy, well, it's NOT A TOY! I saw the toy go under the rug! Under the rug!!!! I jumped up and looked and didn't see the "toy". I asked Dennis to come over and try to catch what I've not called a mouse. He keeps telling me to get something and I'm more concerned with that mouse coming out from under the rug. So I got box and Dennis asked me to sort of press on the side of the rug to sort of squeeze it out. I had to switch places because I didn't wan to do that. We peeled back the rug and there was this little, and actually cute, mouse. Dennis put the mouse outside, and unfortunately the mouse is still "sleeping" in the garden. Poor baby. Good to know my cat's are good "mousers".
Have a good week everyone!
